In a remarkable transformation story, Rasisar village in the Nokha tehsil of Bikaner district, Rajasthan, has emerged as a beacon of development and prosperity in the state. This once agriculture-dependent village now generates more revenue than many districts in Rajasthan, contributing an annual tax of Rs 10 crore.

Twenty years ago, Rasisar relied heavily on farming, but it has since evolved into a bustling transport hub. Today, commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses are ubiquitous, with nearly every household owning at least one. The village, with a population exceeding 15,000, is divided into two gram panchayats: Rasisar Purohit and Rasisar Bada Bas, each led by its own sarpanch.

Numerous families own between 200 and 300 vehicles, with a total of 1,500 trucks and hundreds of buses in the village. The Nokha administration has even opened a dedicated District Transport Office (DTO) in response to this growth, setting an annual revenue target of around 50 crore rupees.

The sheer number of transport vehicles in Rasisar is staggering, with over 5,000 small and large vehicles and more than 2,000 two-wheelers. The village is also witnessing a rise in concrete and luxurious houses, along with an increase in shops, factories, and other businesses. The residents prioritise entrepreneurship over traditional jobs, contributing to the village’s booming economy.

Education has flourished in Rasisar as well. From just two schools initially, the village now boasts more than ten educational institutions. The youth are excelling in competitive exams, securing positions such as IPS officers, engineers, and doctors. Notably, village-born Ram Gopal Manda mentioned key figures like Prem Sukh Delu, an IPS officer in Gujarat, and Radheshyam Delu, a Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer.

Senior advocate Hanuman Singh Rajpurohit remarked on the village’s transformation over the past two decades, attributing the change to the thriving transport business. Financial stability has ushered in a luxurious lifestyle for the residents, earning Rasisar recognition nationwide.

The village’s success story is built on hard work, business acumen, and unity among its diverse communities, including Rajpurohit, Brahmin, Jat, Bishnoi, Suthar, blacksmith, barber, Soni, Jain, and potter.

Basic amenities such as electricity, water, medical facilities, and roads are now readily available, further enhancing the quality of life. The Manda family’s pioneering efforts in the transport business, starting with a single truck in 1978, have been instrumental. Today, they own over 100 truck-trailers and 25 buses, symbolising the village’s collective success.

Rasisar’s remarkable journey from an agrarian society to a transport powerhouse is a testament to its residents’ industrious spirit and unity, making it a model for development in Rajasthan.
