India’s celebrated fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is currently celebrating 25 years in the fashion industry. He started his business with just Rs 20,000 and his brand has, now, grown to become one of the most respected fashion houses not just in India but all across the globe.
As Sabyasachi celebrates 25 years in the industry, let’s take a look at the times when Bollywood divas wore his creations on the international stage.
Deepika Padukone
At the 77th BAFTA Awards, Deepika Padukone opted for a shimmer-embellished Sabyasachi saree which was all about shimmer and sequins. The saree looked minimal from the distance but when you took a close look at it you could not help but marvel at the design.
Alia Bhatt
For her second appearance at the Met Gala, Alia Bhatt opted for a Sabyasachi saree. The saree was heavily embellished with glass beads, sequins, jewels, and small fringes. It also came with a 23-foot-long trail which made sure Alia stood out on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Aditi Rao Hydari
For Cannes, Aditi Rao Hydari donned an ivory heritage saree by Sabyasachi. The saree came with a hand-embroidered and hand-dyed organza finish. She paired the saree with a diamond and emerald choker from the designer’s Bengal Royal collection.
Vidya Balan
When Vidya Balan was a part of the jury at Cannes, she opted for four Sabyasachi sarees for the prestigious event. She looked stunning in all the looks. She paired the saree with classic Indian jewellery such as pearls and naths.
Aishwarya Rai
In 2010, Aishwarya Rao attended the Cannes Film Festival with her husband – Abhishek Bachchan She stunned in a sheer beige Sabyasachi saree. The saree came with a mesh finish and a fine shimmer touch. She paired it with a contrasting green velvet blouse which made her look like royalty.
