A 65-year-old and a 19-year-old suffered gunshot injuries, while an 18-year-old woman sustained a graze wound to the neck. While the 19-year-old was shot in the right foot, the 65-year-old was shot in the left leg, The Times reported.
This happened after a dispute between two people “escalated”, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department said, The Independent reported.
A suspect was nabbed by the cops from the spot after the gunfire was heard around 1.20 am on Saturday (local time) after a “verbal dispute between two people escalated”, The Sun reported.
According to reports, the suspect is a 17-year-old. A firearm was recovered from the spot.
All the injured persons were taken to Bellevue Hospital for medical attention and were in stable condition, a police spokesperson told the paper.
Visuals showed an individual on a stretcher being taken into an ambulance as the cops asked people to stay clear.
Just a few days ago, New York’s police commissioner announced that the city had recorded the lowest number of shooting incidents and victims this year since records began. In the first seven months of 2025, there were 412 shooting incidents and 489 victims, The Independent reported.
Earlier in July, four people were killed in a shooting at an office building. The suspect, 27-year-old Shane Tamura, died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to police, he entered the building with a rifle and opened fire indiscriminately in the lobby and on an upper floor.
