Hyderabad Police has made elaborate security arrangements for the IPL 2025 matches to be played at the city’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium from March 23. Last year’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their IPL campaign when they host Rajasthan Royals on Sunday afternoon.

The venue will play host to nine matches during the IPL season including the first qualifier and the eliminator.

The stadium in Uppal has a capacity of 39,000 and Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu has said they have deployed around 3000 police personnel for duty.

Additionally, ‘She Teams’ will ensure women’s safety and they have requested the metro for late services so that the fans can use public transport when returning home.

“We have nine matches that will take place here…the stadium has a capacity of 39,000. Around 3000 Police officials have been deployed for duty…we also have ‘she teams’ for the women’s safety…we have requested the metro to run the trains late so the audience can use public transport to return after the match…” Sudheer Babu told news agency ANI.

Led by Pat Cummins, SRH had a memorable last season as they made it to the final for the first time since 2018. However, they lost Kolkata Knight Riders in the title clash held in Chennai.

The franchise has kept faith in the Australian Cummins who will continue to lead them.

SRH retained four players before the IPL mega auctions last year including Cummins, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy. They shored up their powerful batting line-up with the addition of Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis.

In the pace bowling department, they have added Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat while Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar are their lead spinners.

SRH will play their first two matches at home before flying to Visakhapatnam to face Delhi Capitals and then take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
