A 32-year-old Indian student died in a car crash in eastern England’s Leicestershire on December 10. Three others, a woman and two men travelling with him were also injured in the accident, which happened at nearly 5.45 am (local Leicestershire time).
According to the Leicestershire Police, the deceased was identified as Chiranjeevi Panguluri.
The four were travelling in a grey Mazda 3 Tamura, from Leicester towards Market Harborough, when their car left the road and came “to rest in a ditch”, a police statement read.
While Panguluri died on the spot, the three others were rushed to a hospital, where their treatment was ongoing.
The police said they briefly arrested a 27-year-old man “on suspicion of death by dangerous driving”. He was later released on police bail.
“Chiranjeevi Panguluri, 32, was the passenger in a grey Mazda 3 Tamura, which was travelling county bound from Leicester towards Market Harborough, before leaving the road and coming to rest in a ditch,” the police statement read.
“Mr Panguluri, from Leicester, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers, one woman and two men, in the vehicle and the driver were all taken to hospital. Two passengers remain in hospital with serious injuries which have been described as not life-threatening,” it added.
According to news agency PTI, those involved in the collision reportedly hail from Andhra Pradesh.
