The health of the body is largely dependent on food and lifestyle. In today’s changing times, not only adults but children are also falling prey to various diseases. Indigestion at a young age, liver weakness, and other stomach-related problems are becoming increasingly serious and common.
Dr Priyanka Singh, a medical officer with seven years of experience (MD and PhD in Medicine) at the Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Nagar Ballia, explains that the liver, also referred to as ‘yakrit‘ in Ayurveda, plays a crucial role in maintaining overall health.
The best way to keep the liver healthy is by adopting a better lifestyle. To do this, drink 8 to 10 glasses of lukewarm water daily, eat salads, consume seasonal fruits, and include coarse grains like millet, maize, and whole lentils in your diet during the cold season. This not only keeps the liver free from disease but also strengthens it. She also suggests some Ayurvedic ways to keep your liver healthy and prevent disease.
Ayurvedic Ways To Strengthen The Liver
Bhui Amla and Punarnava: If you are experiencing liver issues, Ayurveda considers Bhui Amlaand Punarnava as highly effective remedies. You can extract the juice from the Panchang (leaves, stem, root, fruit, and flower) of Bhui Amla or prepare a decoction. Consuming about 8 to 10 ml gives effective results.
Triphala Water: Soak Triphala powder in lukewarm water overnight, strain it in the morning, and drink the water. This acts as a natural liver tonic.
Amla: Amla, or Indian gooseberry, which is abundant during its season, is considered a miraculous food for the liver. Regular consumption of Amla helps protect and strengthen the liver.
Kutki Decoction: Kutki, an Ayurvedic herb, is highly beneficial for liver health. Boil neem leaves, Triphala powder, and fenugreek seed powder to make a decoction and drink it as tea on an empty stomach in the morning. This will help ensure the liver remains strong and healthy.
Avoid Fast Food: It is crucial to steer clear of fast food and other unhealthy dietary habits that can harm liver health.
