Do you feel your legs shaking while walking or experience muscle fatigue after just a few steps? If so, these could be symptoms of weak legs. Leg weakness can make daily activities challenging, causing pain even after minimal movement. If left unaddressed, the problem can worsen, potentially making you reliant on walking sticks or other support for mobility.
Experts consider running one of the best ways to strengthen the legs, but running alone is not sufficient. A combination of different approaches is necessary to keep your legs strong and ensure you can carry out daily activities efficiently. Here are five effective ways to build stronger legs:
- Massage With Warm Oil: Regular oil massage can significantly improve leg strength. Massaging with olive, coconut, or mustard oil for 10 to 15 minutes twice a day helps reduce inflammation and strengthens muscles.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin B, all essential for healthy muscles. Weak legs often result from muscle deficiency. Consuming apple cider vinegar with lemon juice or honey can help improve muscle strength.
- Regular Exercise: Research suggests that running alone is not enough to strengthen the legs. A combination of exercises, such as biking, cycling, jogging, and strength training, should be practised for at least 30 minutes daily.
- Vitamin D Intake: Muscle weakness is often linked to vitamin D deficiency, which is common in India. To boost vitamin D levels, spend 15 to 20 minutes in sunlight daily. Foods like mushrooms, fatty fish, and pumpkin seeds are excellent sources of vitamin D.
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking sufficient water throughout the day is crucial. Dehydration is a major cause of muscle cramps and leg weakness. Always keep your body hydrated by drinking water whenever you feel thirsty.
