The 2025 edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League is set to start in less than two weeks time. A total of 10 teams will fight each other in 74 matches, which will be played across 13 venues in India from March 22 to May 25. A total of 182 players went under the hammer during the two-day IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah last year, and of those 182, 62 are overseas.

IPL has always attracted wide interest from overseas players around the world; this year, once again, many top foreign players will feature in the IPL for the first time in their careers.

Here’s a look at five top overseas stars who are set to make their IPL debut in 2025:

Josh Inglis (Australia) – Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings signed Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis for Rs 2.60 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 30-year-old stumper will make his debut in the cash-rich league this year. Inglis is one of the four Australian players who has managed to score a century in all three formats of the game, and he has also won three ICC titles (2021 T20 World Cup, 2023 World Test Championship, ODI World Cup 2023).

Ryan Rickelton (South Africa) – Mumbai Indians

South African wicketkeeper-batter Ryan Rickelton will make his IPL debut in 2025 for Mumbai Indians. He was signed for Rs 1 crore by the Mumbai-based franchise. Rickelton has played 25 matches in SA20 for MI’s sister franchise MI Cape Town and 13 T20Is for South Africa since making his debut against the West Indies last year in May.

Kamindu Mendis (Sri Lanka) – Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sri Lankan batter Kamindu Mendis is part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025. The 26-year-old cricketer who has played 12 Tests, 19 ODIs, and 23 T20Is for Sri Lanka so far was signed for Rs 75 lakh by the Orange Army. Mendis has made a big name for himself in international cricket, and he also won the ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year award in 2024.

Jacob Bethell (England) – Royal Challengers Bengaluru

RCB signed young England batting all-rounder Jacob Bethell for Rs 2.60 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 21-year-old cricketer made his debut in all three formats of the game for England last year and also played in the T20I and ODI series against India last month. He missed the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a hamstring injury but is expected to recover in time for IPL 2025.

Matthew Breetzke (South Africa) – Lucknow Super Giants

South African batter Matthew Breetzke, who became the first batter in the world to score 150 runs on ODI debut last month, will play for LSG in IPL 2025. The 26-year-old right-handed wicketkeeper-batter was signed for Rs 75 crore by the Lucknow-based team. Breetzke has played one Test, two ODIs, and 10 T20Is for Proteas so far.

In addition to them, uncapped New Zealand batter Bevon Jacobs, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch, and the Australian duo of Aaron Hardie and Xavier Bartlett are set to make their IPL debut in 2025.
