Ayurvedic expert Dr Diksha Bhavsar recently shared a helpful guide on Instagram, listing simple, wholesome fasting recipes that are both sugar-free and potato-free. These dishes are designed to nourish without causing harmful sugar spikes, and they don’t even require complicated ingredients. Here are some diabetes-friendly fasting recipes that you can enjoy without worry:
Rajgira Upma
Made using amaranth (rajgira) flour lightly roasted in ghee, this dish includes ginger, curry leaves and green chillies, finished with lemon juice and coriander. It’s light, nutritious and completely free from potatoes.
Samak Rice Khichdi
This wholesome dish combines samak rice with bottle gourd and simple spices like cumin and ginger. It’s cooked until soft and fluffy, making it an ideal meal to stay full without spiking blood sugar.
Cumin-Coriander Herbal Water
A gentle, calorie-free drink made by boiling cumin and coriander seeds in water. It helps maintain digestive health and supports blood sugar balance. A soothing option for sipping throughout the day.
Buckwheat Thalipeeth
