Mocha Mousse is a rich shade which extends “into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.”
Pantone has finally revealed its colour of the year. The institute has announced Mocha Mousse as the Pantone Color Of The Year 2025. The shade is a rich and brown warm hue that reminds one of the decadent flavours of quality cacao, chocolate, and coffee.
Mocha Mousse is a sensorial warm colour that is a beautiful blend of subtle elegance and earthy refinement. The versatile shade can be used alone as a statement colour or it can be mixed and matched with other shades to form a harmonious blend. The colour also embraces the sustenance of the physical environment and presents a balance between the demands of modernity and the timeless beauty of artful creation.
Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, said, “Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”
Following 2024’s Peach Fuzz, Mocha Mousse is a softer colour that is more in line with the shift towards quiet luxury that is being noticed in fashion and design lately. Laurie Pressman, the Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, said, “For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.”
From technology, and furniture, to clothes, the colour has been incorporated by brands in their collections. Designers like Coach, Chloe, and Miu Miu among others have added shades of Mocha Mousse in their Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 collections which hint at the growing interest in the colour among consumers.
