Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is set to visit Bangladesh next week on December 9 amid reports of attacks on the Hindu community in the country.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed in a press briefing that Misri will meet his Bangladeshi counterpart and there will be several other meetings during the visit.
“Foreign Office consultations led by the Foreign Secretary is a structured engagement between India and Bangladesh. We look forward to this meeting,” Jaiswal said.

The visit comes against the backdrop of reports that the Hindu community in Muslim-majority Bangladesh has been subjected to over 200 attacks across more than 50 districts since August 5, following the fall of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government.
