Chance The Rapper’s wife files for divorce after five years of marriage and two children together

Chance The Rapper’s wife Kirsten Corley has now filed for divorce, eight months after the duo first announced their separation.

TMZ reports the musician’s spouse filed to end their marriage of five years on Friday.

The couple wed in 2019 in Newport Beach, California and share two children together – daughters Kensli, nine, and Marli, five.

It’s not yet known if Kirsten has requested spousal or child support.

The filing comes months after Chance, 31, and Kristen, 31, announced their intention to divorce following a ‘period of separation.’

‘We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the same time we spent together,’ the duo said in a statement back in April. ‘God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together.’

‘We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition,’ the estranged couple added.

Recently the estranged duo set aside their differences as they took their children to meet Olympic champion Simone Biles.

Chance posted photos of the meet-up to his Instagram account in October, writing: ‘Took the girls to see @goldoveramericatour and meet some of the greatest athletes to grace the earth! Thanks so much @simonebiles for taking time to meet my kids while they’re on their own journey through gymnastics.’

The Coca Butter Kisses singer and Kirsten stood behind their children as Simone posed beside their girls.

Chance (born Chancelor Johnathan Bennett) and Kirsten have known each other since they were children.

They started dating in 2013 when they were both in their late teens and welcomed their first daughter in 2015.

They split briefly in 2016 but got back together that same year and tied the knot in 2019.

Chance and Kirsten wed at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, and guests included Kim Kardashian and her then-husband Kanye West.

Six months after their wedding, their welcomed daughter Marli.

Chance enjoys spending time with his daughters and in a 2022 appearance on the Jennifer Hudson show dished about what his kids think of their dad’s fame.

‘[My daughters] know I’m famous, but I don’t think they know anybody else is famous, which is awesome,’ he said.

‘They don’t get impressed by anybody that I bring around, that I show them that I’m with, but they know that I sing and they like my songs, so I’m going to hold on to that while I can.’

The initial divorce announcement comes a year after Chance was photographed dancing inappropriately with a woman who was not his wife during Carnival in Jamaica.

Model Mela Millz shared a video on her Instagram that showed The Voice coach slapping her bare behind.

His fans were divided in their reactions to the video with some calling him out with one writing: ‘He left his wife at home on his bday to go to this,’ while another one said: ‘Imagine what he’s doin when there’s no cameras around.’

Other fans pointed out that he was just embracing the frivolity of the annual celebration of Carnival.

‘Clearly some of y’all don’t know anything about CARNIVAL or the CULTURE,’ another person wrote.
