‘Messi and the Giants’ is said to be an action-adventure series that narrates the story of a 12-year-old boy named Leo, and it has been picked up by the same firm that runs Wrexham’s Award-Winning Documentary.
Lionel Messi’s animated series ‘Messi and the Giants’ is set to premiere on OTT soon. In 2023 it was revealed the Argentine would be starring in his own kids TV show. The production for it has been picked up by Disney Branded Television. It is the same organisation that also runs the award-winning Wrexham documentary pieced together by the club’s co-owners Ryans Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
‘Messi and the Giants’ is said to be an action-adventure series that narrates the story of a 12-year-old boy named Leo. While there is a lot of hype surrounding the show’s premiere, the official release date still has not been confirmed.
Messi is also quite excited about featuring in a kids’ show. Speaking about the show, the Argentine revealed that it was always a ‘dream’ for him to be a part of a project like this.
“I always dreamed of being involved in a project that would share the values of sports, the very same values that have been so important to my career, with younger generations,” he said as per Sony Pictures.
Messi later revealed that he was a huge fan of animated content. He said that he was hoping to watch the upcoming show with his kids soon.
“Nothing truly is impossible with teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and hard work. I look forward to sharing this series with kids around the world, and I hope I will inspire them and motivate them to achieve their own dreams. Ever since I was a kid, I always loved animated series, and I look forward to watching this series with my own kids,” Messi concluded.
Disney recently revealed they were delighted to have Messi on board for this project as he was one of the world’s most recognisable sporting stars. The President of Disney Branded Television spoke about Messi’s involvement in the kids’ show.
“We are proud to work with Lionel Messi and Sony Pictures Television to bring ‘Messi and the Giants’ to our passionate, global kids’ audience. We know that its themes of family, friendship, and teamwork will resonate with not only football enthusiasts but everyone everywhere who loves a great story,” he said.
Messi continues to wow fans with his impressive displays in the MLS. The Argentine recently finished in sixth place for Men’s Best Player at The Best FIFA Awards 2024. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner finished 2024 with a second Copa America crown with Argentina and the MLS Supporters’ Shield with Inter Miami. He will now be focused on coming back stronger next season to help The Herons secure MLS Cup glory.
