Power plant implodes clearing space for proposed waterfront park

The final structures of the Avon Lake power plant were imploded on December 19, making way for mixed-use redevelopment.

Developers plan to preserve historic elements like the turbine building and smokestack, while creating green areas and a waterfront park.

A 1,700ft (518m) exclusion zone was enforced during the demolition.
