The luckiest suburbs in Australia to buy a lottery ticket has been revealed after more than 270 Aussies became millionaires this year.
More than a massive $1.5billion in division one prize money was handed out to punters in 2024.
Several postcodes across the country registered multiple division one winning entries, with Sydney’s CBD notching up four winning entries.
A combined $7.8million worth of prize money was raked in by the winning players.
Melbourne was home to four out of the five biggest lottery wins in Victoria while two $100million Powerball tickets were sold in Brisbane.
Elsewhere, a winning $150million Powerball ticket was sold in Salisbury, in Adelaide’s north earlier this year.
The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said certain players chose to buy their tickets from places that have previously sold winning entries.
‘Some players tell us they deliberately pick lottery outlets that have recently sold a major lottery prize in the hope of continuing the winning streak, while other players choose different outlets, believing lightning won’t strike twice,’ he told NCA Newswire.

Queensland
The two winning $100million Powerball tickets were sold earlier this year in the suburbs of Bulimba and Chermside, in Brisbane’s north.
Chermside has sold more than an impressive $164million in winning tickets according to figures from the Lott.
A woman from Hawthorne claimed her winning share of the $200million Powerball jackpot in February.
A mother, who lives in Aspley, clinched the winning entry for a $100million draw in August after she nearly lost her ticket in the glovebox of her car.
Elsewhere, Cairns, in Far North Queensland, sold four division one winning entries with a combined prize money worth $4.2million.
Three winning tickets worth $3million were sold in the suburb of Urraween, in Hervey Bay, in the state’s Fraser Coast region.

NSW
While Sydney claimed the most division one winning entries, there were several residents in the city’s west who also took home an eye watering amount of prize money.
Three lucky players took home a combined $6.4million in earnings from entries made at newsagencies and outlets in Cabramatta.
Liverpool and Blacktown were among the suburbs that rounded out the top five that claimed major lottery wins this year in the Harbour City.
One couple purchased the winning ticket for the $40million jackpot in July at a Cellarbrations store in Kenthurst in Sydney’s north-west.
Dozens of winning entries were also sold in the Hunter and Central Coast regions in northern NSW with 22 winners taking home a total of $133million.
Four of the five largest wins were sold through online tickets with the couple, who won the $40million jackpot, purchasing the only winning ticket that was sold in store.
NSW is home to the highest number of millionaires from lottery wins after 80 lucky Aussies across the state raked in the triple figure sum over the past 11 months.
Victoria welcomed the second most millionaires with 54 wins followed by WA with 42.
South Australia with 17 wins followed by Tasmania with 7 wins rounded out the top five states.

Victoria
There were 13 suburbs across Melbourne’s CBD that sold $13million worth of winning lottery tickets this year.
Niddrie in the city’s north-west and Preston in Melbourne’s north-east were among the top five suburbs where players made winning entries.
One man in his 20s from Preston took home a cool $50million in November while another lucky winner from North Geelong, in Victoria’s south, clinched $12million from a Powerball win.
Victoria has been crowned the luckiest state after 135 residents took out division one wins with almost $247,000,000 worth of prize money handed out.

South Australia
Several division one winning entries were sold in South Australia this year including $8million that was paid out to one person, who purchased an Oz Lotto ticket online.
Another winning ticket was sold in Salisbury with the lucky player winning $1million.
The second luckiest suburb this year across the state was Kadina, a rural town located in the Yorke Peninsula, in the state’s south-east.
Two separate players picked up a combined $5.4million after the winning tickets were sold in the area.

Western Australia
Morley, in Perth’s north-east, was the luckiest suburb to pick a winning lottery ticket in WA this year after three tickets worth almost $3million were sold.
Mundaring, in Perth’s east and Mandurah about a hour’s drive south of the city, sold two winning tickets each.
The winning ticket for the $30million Powerball jackpot in October was sold at the Malaga newsagency, in Perth’s north.
The ticket for the second largest win was registered in Northam, in WA’s Wheatbelt region, with the winner taking home $4.8million.

Tasmania, Northern Territory and the ACT
Tasmania sold 11 winning tickets worth $15million with the biggest win worth $3.75million being registered in Lindisfarne, north-east of Hobart.
A retired man from Bicheno, in Tasmania’s east, won $1.2million in October.
Four winning tickets worth almost $7million were sold in the Northern Territory with $4.8million being the biggest win.
Two tickets worth almost $4million were sold in the ACT.
