The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has initiated special camps to assist beneficiaries in availing the ‘Sasta Ghar‘ housing scheme, which was recently approved by Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena. The initiative, aimed at making homeownership more accessible, is part of a broader effort to provide affordable housing options to various categories of citizens.

Eligibility and Discount on Housing

The ‘Sasta Ghar’ scheme will offer a 25% discount on housing to beneficiaries from several categories, including construction workers, auto and taxi drivers, women, Vir Nari (widows of military personnel), ex-servicemen, gallantry and Arjuna awardees, individuals with disabilities (divyangjans), and those from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Decentralized Camps Across Key Locations

Special camps will be set up by the Delhi Building and Other Construction Welfare Boards at construction sites of major projects such as DMRC, NCRTC, CPWD, and NHAI, as well as other locations. These decentralized camps will help workers, laborers, and those living in informal settlements avail the scheme.

Outreach Programs for Targeted Groups

Various departments will conduct outreach programs to raise awareness and facilitate the process for specific groups:

  • Rajya Sainik Board: Organizing programs for Vir Nari, ex-servicemen, and gallantry/Arjun awardees.
  • Transport Department: Running awareness campaigns and camps for auto and taxi drivers at ARU/VIU Burari.
  • Delhi Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation: Offering loans to SC/ST applicants.
  • WCD, Social Welfare, SC/ST Departments: Organizing camps for women, street vendors, and divyangjans.

DDA’s Role and Camp Operations

To ensure smooth operations, DDA officers will be present at each camp site with all necessary information regarding the scheme and forms. Nodal officers from both the concerned departments and DDA will oversee each camp.

Reporting and Review Process

The camps began functioning on Saturday, and the departments have been instructed to submit reports of their outreach efforts to the Chief Secretary within 15 days for the Lieutenant Governor’s review.
