The ice has been smoothed, the lines are painted, and the teeth are … barely there. The NHL is back, and you can get in on the return with Underdog providing the promo code FOXNEWS for you to earn $100 on any $5 NHL wager tonight.
The Capitals and Hurricanes play each other tonight in Carolina. The Capitals are a team that you’re probably more familiar with their best player than anything else. Alex Ovechkin is back, and you have to wonder how much more he will play in the league. One of the best players of all time, Ovechkin is entering his 22ndseason. He is the all-time leading goalscorer in NHL history, and after putting in 32 goals last year, he can continue adding to his total this season. There is a slim chance that, if he plays a few more years at the same level of productivity, he could reach 1,000 goals.
The Carolina Hurricanes are the more complete team. Last season, the Hurricanes hoisted the Stanley Cup after years of knocking at the door. They opened their season with arguably their biggest competitor to the throne. It wasn’t a very exciting game to open the season, but they hosted the Panthers and lost 1-0 in overtime. This was their home opener, and that explosive offense from the playoffs last year didn’t seem to be there. They should be fine, though.
