Tesla maker Elon Musk, who is the head of the department of government efficiency in the new Trump administration, will not be setting up his office inside the White House.
Musk, who was reportedly eyeing office space inside the Oval Office in the famed West Wing and actively campaigned for the same, will have to be content with remaining at the Eisenhower Executive Office building.
The Times reported that White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, who has earned the name of “ice maiden”, has “frozen” Musk out of the White House. On January 25, during a press briefing, Trump clarified that the SpaceX CEO will not work in the West Wing, but will have an office in a separate building and a team of 20 working under his leadership.
“No, no, not – it’s not Elon’s office. We have an office that’s set up for purposes of – when I do an executive order, that the order is carried out, not that it sits around for three months. And we’ll have about 20 people, maybe more, working out of that office,” he said.
