An elderly couple have died after a fire ripped through a home early this morning.
Officers were called to the blaze at 7.55am on Adam Street, Abertillery in Blaenau Gwent county, South Wales.
Teams from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Wales Air Ambulance and Welsh Ambulance Service also attended the inferno.Â
A man and a woman sadly died at the scene, Gwent Police confirmed.
The couple’s next of kin have been informed and a report is being prepared for the coroner on the fire, which is not being treated by officers as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Steve Davies said: ‘We can confirm that a man and a woman, both in their nineties, have died at the scene of the fire.
‘Their next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.
‘Following a joint investigation by Gwent Police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the cause of the fire is not suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
‘We’d like to thank the community for their support.’
