Marcus Rashford played his first game in 59 days when he made a cameo in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Rashford’s Villa debut came a week after he sealed a loan move away from Manchester United until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old had been exiled by Ruben Amorim since December after falling out with the United manager and publicly expressing his desire to seek a ‘new challenge’.
Rashford entered Sunday’s game as a substitute in the 65th minute and went on to touch the ball 22 times, with each involvement causing excitement among the crowd.
After the game, Rashford took to Instagram to send a nine-word message to his new supporters.
Alongside five photos from the game – including two featuring young fans holding up homemade signs with his name on – Rashford wrote: ‘Thank you for the warm welcome. Great team performance’.

Sunday’s victory saw Villa reach the last 16 of the FA Cup for the first time in a decade.
They will be hoping to go all the way and win the tournament – something Rashford achieved twice with United.Â
Rashford is still under contract at Old Trafford until June 2028.
However, Villa will have the option to sign him permanently in the summer for a transfer fee in the region of £40million.
Rashford scored 138 goals in 426 senior appearances for United before making the move to Villa Park.
He will be hoping to net his first goal for Villa next weekend when Unai Emery’s men host Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
Villa currently sit eighth in the Premier League – eight points and five places above United.Â
