Rekha Gupta was elected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi after she was chosen as the Leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly during a BJP legislature party meeting on Wednesday.
Gupta, 50, will be the fourth Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to lead Delhi, following in the footsteps of Madan Lal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma, and Sushma Swaraj.
The senior BJP leader will also be the only woman serving as a Chief Minister in any BJP-ruled state, making her the fourth woman to hold the position in the national capital.
In addition to Gupta’s appointment, six ministers have also been selected to join the new cabinet. While their exact designations are yet to be announced, the names of the six ministers are:
- Parvesh Verma
- Manjinder Singh Sirsa
- Ravinder Indraj Singh
- Kapil Mishra
- Ashish Sood
- Pankaj Singh
