Brazilian influencer, 23, drowns while fishing in a river despite friend’s frantic attempt to rescue him

A social media influencer drowned during a fishing outing in the west-central Brazilian city of Sorriso.

Igor Anton was fishing with a friend on the Teles Pires River on Friday when he submerged.

The 23-year-old was walking in the shallow part of the river when he started to drown.

Anton caught his breath and cried to his friend for help. His friend dove in the river to assist Anton but was unable to rescue him.

A Mato Grosso Civil Police spokesperson told DailyMail.com that the fire department responded to a 5:30 pm emergency call and was unable to find his body.

The search was called off and resumed Saturday. The body was located around 8:30 am.

Anton was known in the social media universe as Anton Estagiário and rose to fame in January when he began content of his farming job.

He would often post videos of the harvest and the machinery and in June began featuring fellow employees, who fondly nicknamed him ‘Intern.’

Just four days before his death, Anton shared an Instagram video of a chapel that he helped construct at the farm.

‘A little bit of the process from the beginning to the end of the construction of our little saint on the farm,’ Anton wrote. ‘May God bless you very much.’

One of his 59,000 Instagram followers said Anton’s participation in the project may have been an indication of what was to come.

‘He built this chapel with so much love and affection, it seems like it was a sign,’ Gustavo Teixeira wrote. ‘He just finished it and went into to the arms of the Father.’

Anton leaves behind a three-year-old son.

On August 23, he shared a photo of the boy and lamented that he had not taken any photographs together.

‘Today we even forgot to take a picture,’ Anton’s caption read. ‘I love you my son.’
