Baseball is back in action tonight as the Guardians and Rays take the field for Game 2 of the American League Championship Series. BetMGM is offering new users $1,500 in bonuses if your first bet loses when using promo code FOXNEWS.
With one game down, we’ve seen the Guardians break out the bats and win the opener. After getting nothing through five innings, they scored in each of the final four frames. They did it on a combination of homers and station-to-station baseball. Before we get into Game 2, it is worth taking a look at what happened between the two in the regular season.
During the regular season, the teams played six games. The Rays won two of three in Cleveland before sweeping the Guardians in Tampa. Only one of the six games between the teams featured more than five combined runs.

The Rays have now faced the Guardians seven times this season, and they’ve scored three runs or fewer in six of those games. However, they have also held the Guardians scoreless in three games. Including the postseason, the Guardians are averaging just 2.14 runs per game against Tampa.
Here is how the teams stacked up during the regular season for their overall hitting:
| Batting Average | Runs | Hits | Home Runs | On Base Percentage | Slugging Percentage | |
| Guardians | .239 | 678 | 1,291 | 162 | .316 | .380 |
| Rays | .258 | 736 | 1,405 | 169 | .326 | .402 |
The pitching matchup is very close with the two teams’ statistics aligning quite closely:
| ERA | WHIP | Walks | Strikeouts | Opponent Batting Average | |
| Guardians | 3.77 | 1.26 | 530 | 1530 | .238 |
| Rays | 3.70 | 1.14 | 409 | 1322 | .229 |
