Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel has ignored Hardik Pandya and Andre Russell along with Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine to pick a former West Indies star as the best all-rounder in the history of the Indian Premier League. According to Parthiv, who played for six teams—Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Deccan Chargers, and Sunrisers Hyderabad—during his 12-year-long IPL career, Kieron Pollard is the best all-rounder in the IPL.
The Gujarat-based former Indian cricketer, who has now donned the hat of an expert and commentator, was asked to pick the best IPL all-rounder during a Cricbuzz show, and he went ahead with his former MI teammate.
Pollard played in the IPL from 2010 to 2022 for Mumbai Indians. During his 13-year-long association with the world’s richest franchise cricket league as a player, Pollard played 189 matches for the Mumbai Indians and scored 3412 runs in addition to taking up 69 wickets.
He was the member of the MI team that won five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, along with two Champions League titles in 2011 and 2014. The former West Indies captain is the second-leading run scorer for the Mumbai-based franchise in the world’s richest franchise cricket league, and in addition to that, he has also led them in six matches.
After calling time on his IPL career as a player, Pollard joined Mumbai Indians as a batting coach ahead of the 2023 season and will resume the responsibilities once again this year.
MI to start campaign against CSK
In the 2025 edition of the IPL, which is set to start on March 22 in Kolkata, Mumbai will open its campaign on Sunday, March 23, in Chennai. In the first match, MI will face arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium and then travel to Ahmedabad to take on Gujarat Titans in the second league stage match on March 29. MI’s first home match of IPL 2025 is scheduled against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders on March 31.
Hardik Pandya will captain the Ambani-owned franchise in IPL 2025, and the star-studded squad includes the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, among others.
