Channel Seven star Kate McCarthy marries partner Kate Lee in intimate ceremony: ‘We had a perfect day’

AFLW star Kate McCarthy was every inch the blushing bride as she married partner Kate Lee on Saturday.

The Channel Seven star and ‘Queen of Triple M footy’, 31, exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at the Post Office Hotel in Melbourne.

The Brisbane Lions player wore a traditional lace gown by popular Australian boutique Grace Loves Lace, while Lee wore a strapless dress by bridal company Milla Nova.

‘We had the most perfect day ever,’ McCarthy told Daily Mail Australia.

‘It was just beautiful. We just wanted it to be a huge party and that’s exactly what it was, combined with the perfect amount of meaningful memories.’

The highlight of the nuptials for McCarthy was really her Brisbane-based loved ones making it to Melbourne after Alfred: ‘My Brisbane family and friends had to rearrange flights last minute to be able to make it because of the cyclone. It was all very up in the air,’ she said.

The beaming brides married in the gastro pub’s warehouse style Dining Hall venue, which features a large dance floor and a private outdoor garden, surrounded by family and friends.

The couple’s dogs, two mini dachshunds and a greyhound, were involved in the ceremony, McCarthy added.

‘Even a once in a lifetime cyclone in Brisbane didn’t stop my family and friends making it down for the day to celebrate. Nor could a few other obstacles. It was simply perfect,’ she said.

McCarthy proposed to Lee at Zonzo Estate Yarra Valley winery in 2024.

‘One more sleep until this is surpassed as the best day of my life! I cannot wait to proudly call you my wife,’ she gushed this week, reposting the proposal photos.

Among the guests were McCarthy’s AFL commentator colleagues including Zoe Cutter, Barry Denner, Dale Thomas, and Jack Heverin.

‘Congratulations to the queen of Triple M Footy Kate McCarthy on marrying her Queen Kate Lee. Awesome day/night and we are all so proud of you!’ Heverin captioned a lovely group photo.

‘Triple M rocks the wedding,’ Cutter wrote alongside the same snap of McCathy surrounded by her smiling colleagues.

The Channel Seven star will co-host the Sunday Footy Feast program alongside Jason Richardson and Campbell Brown after she returns from her honeymoon.

In September, she suffered a life-threatening health scare after she collapsed at Melbourne Airport and was rushed to hospital.

McCarthy had been in Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final coverage before she was flown to Brisbane.

But ahead of her arrival back in Melbourne, two days after the Grand Final, Kate began feeling unwell on her flight.

Kate, who played AFLW for Brisbane, St Kilda and Hawthorn, was quickly connected to monitors by paramedics.

It wasn’t long before she went into Ventricular Tachycardia — a life-threatening and fast abnormal heart rhythm — and was rushed to hospital.

McCarthy is now well and enjoying the first days of married life in Bali.
