Ryanair might be one of the UK’s cheapest airlines but its prices can quickly soar if travellers aren’t careful.
The budget airline has a whole host of extra fees for passengers who break its strict rules.
A passenger recently revealed that she was charged £50 for bringing a water bottle on the plane.
And another fee that Ryanair flyers will need to watch out for is a £45 charge they could face at the boarding gate.
All Ryanair passengers are allowed to bring one small item of hand luggage on the plane for free.
This small bag ‘must fit under seat in front of you’ and fit within the airline’s tight size requirements ’40 x 20 x 25 cm’.
Travellers who need a little more space can pay for a ‘Priority’ ticket which entitles them to bring another cabin bag. This bag can weigh up to 10kg and go in the overhead locker.
However, there are only a certain number of Priority tickets available on each flight and if travellers miss out they could face a fee.

Passengers who can’t get a Priority seat can pay to put a 10kg checked bag in the hold of the plane.
But if they try to bring their checked bag to the boarding gate, they will be hit with a steep fee.
The airline states on its website: ‘Non-priority customers who bring their 10kg check-in bag to the boarding gate may check it in against payment of a fee of £46.00 – £ 60.00.’
To avoid the fee, passengers will need to make sure they drop their bag at the check-in desk before their flight.
A passenger recently told MailOnline that she will never fly with Ryanair again after the bargain airline charged her £62 for an oversized bag.
And a travel expert has shared an easy hack that could secure you extra legroom on Ryanair for free.
