India women will take on South Africa women in the second ODI of the ongoing tri-nation series in Sri Lanka. After winning their opening game against the hosts, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian side will look to continue their successful run in the tournament on Tuesday, April 29. The match is scheduled at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and will begin at 10:00 AM IST.
The Indian team dominated the rain-marred 39 overs per side fixture against the Sri Lankans in the first match of the triangular. Sneh Rana topped the wickets chart with 3/31 and helped the tourists bundle out the hapless opposition for a paltry 147. Deepti Sharma (2/22) and Nallapureddy Charani (2/26) also took a pair of wickets each. During the chase, Smriti Mandhana’s 43 provided the early blitz for the Indians before an unbeaten fifty from Pratika Rawal (50*) and a 48 not out from Harleen Deol took their team to a nine-wicket win.
The South African side makes a comeback after a four-month break since their disappointing home series versus England in December last year. The Proteas women lost their most recent 50-over assignment 2-1 and will be eyeing a strong return with the tri-series as they prepare for the ICC Women’s World Cup later in the year.
