Sunil Narine has been part of the Kolkata Knight Riders since the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and on Tuesday (April 29), during the 47th league match of the ongoing IPL 2025 season between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the legendary West Indies spinner entered his name in the history books by equalling the world record of taking the most wickets for one team in T20s.
Since making his T20 debut for KKR in 2012, Narine has played 195 matches for the Shah Rukh Khan-owned side and has picked up 208 wickets. He dismissed three Delhi Capitals batters on Tuesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in the 205-run chase, and the figures of 3 for 29 in four overs helped Narine match former England all-rounder Samit Patel’s world record of 208 wickets.
Samit played 232 T20 matches for Nottinghamshire and dismissed 208 batters.

Narine has accounted for the dismissal of 190 batters in 186 IPL matches and 18 batters in nine Champions League T20 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders.
KKR win by 14 runs
Narine’s super show with the ball on Tuesday helped KKR beat Delhi Capitals by 14 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium and keep alive their hopes of finishing in the top four and securing a place in the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Narine opened his wicket account in Delhi by getting DC skipper Axar Patel caught out by Harshit Rana on the second ball of the 14th over of the run chase. Axar scored 43 runs from 23 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes. On the last ball of the same over, Narine then breached Tristan Stubbs’ defence and shattered his stumps. The South African international could only manage to score one run from three balls.
Narine picked his third wicket in the form of Faf du Plessis. The former South African captain was caught by Rinku Singh on the second ball of the 16th over of the DC innings.
