Nirmal Kapoor, the mother of Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, died on May 2 at the age of 90. Her funeral, in Mumbai, was attended by her children, grandchildren and other family members, along with several celebrities from the film industry who came to pay their respects. Now, Maheep Kapoor, wife of Sirf Tum actor Sanjay Kapoor, has shared a few throwback photos with her late mother-in-law on social media.
On Instagram, Maheep Kapoor shared a collection of memories with Nirmal Kapoor. The first photo, seemingly taken during one of her wedding ceremonies with Sanjay Kapoor, captured a touching moment as Nirmal tieing a floral band to Maheep. Maheep looked radiant in a red saree, while Nirmal exuded timeless grace in a peach-toned outfit.
Maheep also shared a few photographs from her mother-in-law’s recent birthday celebration. In one of the pictures, Nirmal was seen smiling for the camera alongside her grandchildren — Jahaan Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor and Shanaya Kapoor.
The carousel also featured a few more photos from Maheep Kapoor’s personal albums, offering glimpses of family moments. The post concluded with a photo from one of Maheep’s Karwa Chauth celebrations for Sanjay Kapoor, where she was seen seeking blessings from her mother-in-law — a touching reflection of their close bond.
Alongside the post, Maheep expressed grief upon losing her mother-in-law and penned, “Will miss you a lot, mama.”
Many celebrities also expressed their condolences over Nirmal Kapoor’s death. Among them were Riddhima Kapoor Sahni (daughter of Neetu Kapoor), Sophie Choudry, Seema Kiran Sajdeh, Neelam Kothari Soni, Zoya Akhtar, Sara Shareef and others.
A day earlier, Anil Kapoor shared an emotional tribute to his mother. He posted a beautiful portrait of Nirmal from her younger days, accompanied by a series of monochrome and sepia-toned photographs.
Anil Kapoor captioned the images with a heartfelt note, revealing his gratitude towards his mother.
“My mother touched so many lives, not just directly but through the people she nurtured, supported, and loved. She was one of those remarkable women who never stood in the spotlight but whose strength held everyone together. A silent pillar, always smiling, always caring, always bringing warmth to those around her,” read an excerpt from his note.
