Two foreign nationals died while two other people were injured after a suspected electrical leak at a hotel swimming pool in Bengaluru, India, police said.

The incident happened Friday evening, Oct. 30, at the Conrad Bengaluru in the city’s Halasuru neighborhood, according to police.

Seemant Kumar Singh, Bengaluru’s police commissioner, said investigators suspected an electrical leak but were waiting for medical, technical and expert reports to determine the cause, Public TV reported.

Police identified the victims as Alexander Maximilian Theiss, 57, a German national and Lufthansa crew member, and Juraj Horvat, 45, a Slovak national who worked as a project manager for IBM, The New Indian Express reported.

Both were staying at the hotel at the time.

A 41-year-old American guest, Mathew Desantis, and Rahul Tiwari, a 28-year-old pool attendant and lifeguard, were injured while trying to help, the same publication said.
