Sunrisers Hyderabad kicked off the IPL 2025 season by posting a total of 286/3 against inaugural edition champions Rajasthan Royals (in Hyderabad on March 23), and in their last match, which was played against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday (May 25), they hammered 278/3.
The second-highest total of this year’s IPL helped the Pat Cummins-led side secure their third win in a row and sign off the forgetful year with their second-biggest win (110 runs) in IPL history.

For the IPL 2024 losing finalists, in the repeat of last year’s title decider, wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen scored a magnificent century, and Travis Head made 76 runs.
Klaasen, who was retained for Rs 23 crore by the Orange Army ahead of mega auctions last year, came out to bat at No. 3 in the national capital and remained unbeaten on 105 runs from just 39 balls. During his stay at the crease, he smacked seven fours and nine sixes.
Klaasen completed his century in just 37 balls, which also helped him break Head’s record for the fastest IPL century by an SRH batter. Head scored a 39-ball century for SRH last year against RCB in Bengaluru. Klaasen’s 37-ball century is the second fastest ton in this year’s IPL and overall joint third fastest.

The 33-year-old right-handed batter added 83 runs from the second wicket with Head, who scored six sixes and as many fours during his 40-ball stay at the crease, and 83 runs for the third wicket as well with Ishan Kishan (29 from 20 balls).
The foundation for a big knock by the most expensive player in SRH’s history was laid by Abhishek Sharma and Head. The two left-handed batters, who were each retained for Rs 14 crore, added 92 runs for the first wicket in 6.5 overs.
For KKR, Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets for 42 runs in his quota of four overs, and one SRH batter was sent back to the pavilion by Vaibhav Arora (1/39 in four overs).
By taking his first wicket of the match in the form of Abhishek Sharma (32 from 16 balls), Narine also entered his name in the history books. He now holds the record of taking the most wickets for one team in T20 cricket.
The match between SRH and KKR in Delhi was Narine’s 198th T20 game for the Shah Rukh Khan-owned side, and he now has 210 wickets to his name. He is followed by former England all-rounder Samit Patel, who dismissed 208 batters in 232 matches for Nottinghamshire.

The target of 279 runs was almost an impossible one for KKR to chase down, and they kept losing wickets at regular intervals to make matters even worse for them. Manish Pandey top-scored for KKR against his former team by making 37 runs from 23 balls, and Harshit Rana contributed 34 off 21.
Jaydev Unadkat led the SRH attack and finished with figures of 3 for 24 in four overs, whereas Harsh Dubey got rid of three KKR batters for 34 runs. Sri Lankan fast bowler Ehsan Malinga also picked up three wickets (3/31).
The win over Kolkata Knight Riders helped SRH end the season with 13 points, and the 2016 champions will finish sixth if Lucknow Super Giants lose their last league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Ekana Stadium on Tuesday, May 27.
