Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna married in 2001.

When Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna appeared on Koffee With Karan season 5, the latter revealed she had kept one condition before him to have a second baby.

Akshay Kumar married Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of the legendary Hindi film actor Rajesh Khanna, in 2001 after dating for a few years. The couple went on to become parents to two children: a son, Aarav, and a daughter, Nitara. While Twinkle left working in films after their marriage and took up writing as her profession, Kumar went on to become one of the prominent faces of Bollywood, boasting a diverse filmography. The secret behind the actor’s experimentation with such a wide variety of stories is his wife.

When the couple appeared on the Karan Johar chat show Koffee With Karan season 5, Twinkle shared that she had kept a condition for having a second baby. “I told Akshay to do sensible films if he wants to have a second child,” said the former actress. A surprised Karan then enquired the same to Akshay, who said, “I can’t even tell you what I have to go through every day. You have an idea, you know her very well.”

Further, the KWK host mentioned that Akshay’s choice of films had indeed changed over the course of his career. The actor then quipped, “I cannot tell you what I go through.” Akshay and Twinkle welcomed their baby girl, Nitara, in 2012, almost 11 years after their marriage. And it is worth noting that the Singh Is Kinng actor has done several meaningful and pertinent films like Pad Man, Airlift, OMG-Oh My God!, Mission Mangal, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and more.

Akshay was last seen in the multi-starrer film Khel Khel Mein alongside Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor and Pragya Jaiswal. The film was released on Independence Day alongside Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s blockbuster hit Stree 2 and failed to do business at the box office. Kumar also had a cameo appearance in the supernatural horror comedy, which amused the audiences. At present, the 57-year-old actor has Bhoot Bangla, Sky Force, Welcome To The Jungle, Housefull 5, Jolly LLB 3 and more in the pipeline.

Previously, in an interview with Galatta, Akshay broke his silence over criticism of doing many films a year. He said, “A lot of people question why I do four films a year. I don’t understand this. It’s the first time I’ve heard someone ask why I work so much. Have you ever heard anyone question why someone works? I do four films a year, and people have a problem with that.”
