The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team posted a 3-1 win over Australia in the encounter between the sides on Sunday in the 4 Nations Tournament at the TC 1899 Blau Weiss stadium in Berlin, Germany.
The young Indian side netted through Shardanand Tiwari, Sourabh Anand Khush and Amir Ali to overshadow Oliver Will’s lone strike for the Aussies.
Tiwari opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the game before Khush struck in the 36th minute to double the Indians’ lead. Ali sent a bulge into the net in the 43rd minute before Will grabbed a consolation for Australia in the 55th minute

India began the match on a strong note, with Tiwari converting his penalty corner to secure an early lead. Both teams fought fiercely throughout the remainder of the first half, but neither could break the deadlock again, leaving India with a narrow lead heading into the second half.
India maintained their momentum in the third quarter, scoring consecutive goals. Khushwaha extended the lead with a vital field goal, followed by another field goal from Ali, bringing India closer to victory.
In the final quarter, Australia managed to score a goal five minutes before the end, thanks to a field goal by Will. However, they couldn’t score the additional goals needed, thus conceding the win to India.

The tournament follows a round-robin format, featuring four teams—India, Germany, Australia, and Spain—each facing one another once in the pool stage. The top two teams from the group matches will advance to the final, while the remaining teams will compete for the 3rd/4th place playoff. India’s next match will be against Spain on June 24 at the same venue.
