A month after he met ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Wardha city in the poll-bound state on September 20 to mark the first anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and inaugurate several development projects including a mega textile park in Amravati.

According to a government release, Modi will virtually perform the ‘bhoomi pujan’ of the PM Mitra Park coming up in Amravati. He will inaugurate several development projects in the two cities, including the mega PM textile park that will come up on 1,020 acres of land, said the Amravati district information officer.

He will also address a public meeting on Swavlambi grounds in Wardha city to mark the PM Vishwakarma scheme anniversary. It envisages to provide end-to-end and holistic support to the traditional artisans and craftspeople in scaling up their conventional products and services. He will also launch two key programmes — Acharya Chanakya Kaushalya Vikas scheme and Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Women Startup scheme.

During the Vishwakarma programme in Wardha city, the prime minister will release certificates and loans to beneficiaries. Symbolising the tangible support extended to artisans under this scheme, he will distribute credit to 18 beneficiaries in 18 trades.

As a tribute to their legacy and enduring contribution to society, he will release a commemorative stamp dedicated to mark one year of progress under PM Vishwakarma.

In Amravati, Modi will lay the foundation stone of PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (MITRA) Park, which is being developed by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) as the state implementation agency.

The central government had approved setting up of seven PM MITRA parks for the textiles industry. These are a major step forward in realising the vision of making India a global hub for textiles manufacturing and exports and will help create world-class industrial infrastructure that will attract large-scale investment, including foreign direct investment (FDI), and encourage innovation and job creation within the sector.

He will launch the ‘Acharya Chanakya Skill Development Centre’ scheme of the state government. Skill development training centres will be established in renowned colleges across the state to provide training to youth aged 15 to 45, enabling them to become self-reliant and access various jobs. At least 1,50,000 youths will receive free skill development training each year.

The PM will also launch ‘Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Women Startup Scheme’, which will provide early-stage support to women-led startups in Maharashtra. Financial aid up to Rs 25 lakh will be given, with 25 per cent of the total provisions under this scheme reserved for women from backward classes and economically weaker sections.
