In a surprise move, Spanish giants Real Madrid are reportedly readying up a bid for Manchester City star and Ballon d’Or holder Rodri. Los Blancos are reportedly preparing a £100m offer for the 29-year-old maestro in an attempt to bolster their midfield.
The Madrid giants look to rope in the Spaniard in an attempt to replace Croatian legend Luka Modric, who departed the Capital City side at the end of a thirteen-year stint.
Rodri’s current contract with City runs till 2027, but Pep Guardiola and Co. are working on finalising a contract extension.

Rodri’s Rise
Rodri, who had youth spells at Rayo Majadahonda, Atletico Madrid and Villareal, broke through the ranks of the Yellow Submarine to make his senior debut in the year the year 2015. After three years at the Estadio de la Ceramica, the Spaniard made the switch to Atletico Madrid in the year 2018.
He clinched the UEFA Super Cup with the Rojiblancos the same season, before joining Manchester City for a fee of £63m. Rodri went on to clinch the Premier League title four times since he arrived on English shores, while also clinching the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the Communnity Shield, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Rodri has also served as the beating heart of the Spanish national side that clinched the UEFA Euro 2024 title and the UEFA Nations League crown in the 2022-23 campaign. His contributions helped him clinch the Ballon d’Or in 2024 as he edged out Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior to the prestigious title.

City, who look to reconquer the PL title after a trophyless season, would be reluctant to let go of their prized possession, however, the pulling power of Real Madrid cannot be understated. City head coach Pep Guardiola will play a crucial role in the Abu Dhabi-owned side holding on to the Spanish midfielder.
