Selena Gomez tells haters to ‘f*** off’ as she responds to criticism after sharing she cannot carry children

Selena Gomez responded to criticism by telling haters to ‘f*** off’ after revealing she is not able to carry children of her own due to ‘medical issues.’

The Only Murders In The Building actress, 32 – who recently shared a tender moment with her goddaughter after her 2024 Emmys loss – could be seen giving her reply to critics in a now-viral clip on X as she attended a Women in Film event.

In the reel, the singer came to her own defense about being ‘vulnerable’ when it came to discussing her own health and asking for ‘help.’

‘I truly believe that there is power in being vulnerable and telling people when you need help and you want help,’ Gomez expressed while seated at a table next to her younger sister, Gracie.

‘That is not shameful. So, yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah, I shared that I have bipolar [disorder]. F*** off.’

After her comments, Selena then received cheers and applause from the other attendees inside the room.

The star further explained that she wants, ‘to be an advocate for women and that’s why I share, that’s why I like to be honest, because everybody is going through something.’

Gomez candidly added, ‘I don’t have it all put together. I’m not a, you know, whatever. I’m me, and that’s all I can be.’

‘So, do not ever let anyone tell you that you are not a good person,’ the former Disney channel actress said as she turned and placed a hand on her sister’s shoulder.

Towards the end of the clip, Selena then stated, ‘So, screw anyone who tells you you’re a victim. You are a survivor in my book.’

Her response comes shortly after the star’s interview with Vanity Fair’s October issue earlier this month.

While talking to the outlet, Gomez revealed that she is not able to carry children of her own due to health issues that prevent her from doing so.

‘I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.’

However, Selena expressed that she still wants to be a mother someday. ‘It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.’

‘I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.’

The actress added, ‘It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different.’

And whether she becomes a mother via surrogacy or adoption, Selena stated that the child will still be her own.

‘At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,’ the Wolves songstress told Vanity Fair.

Gomez has previously expressed her desire to be a mother in the future, and earlier this year in May, revealed that she had plans to adopt a child herself once she turned 35-years-old before her relationship with Benny Blanco.

While attending the Time 100 Most Influential Companies event, the star explained, ‘I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it.’

‘A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it.’

‘Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone,’ the performer expressed.

Gomez and Blanco’s romance was confirmed late last year in December, and since then, the pair have shared snippets of their relationship to social media.

The record producer also previously stated that having children is his ‘next goal’ on The Howard Stern Show in May.

At one point, Stern said that he predicted marriage in their future and Blanco replied with, ‘You and me both…I gotta get my act together!’

Stern also asked, ‘When will you propose? You should make the announcement now. When are you going to propose to your very famous girlfriend Selena?’

And Blanco answered, ‘When I look at her…I’m always just like, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this.’

He further gushed, ‘People always said this to me, when you know you meet your best friend, she truly is my best friend,’ and added that Selena is ‘the coolest, nicest, sweetest…’

Elsewhere during the interview, the songwriter talked about wanting a family in the future. ‘That’s like my next goal on the box. I have a lot of God kids, I’ve got a ton of nephews. It’s my thing, I love being around kids!’

Along with her recent interview with Vanity Fair, Selena has also been open with her bipolar disorder diagnosis.

Back in May, she appeared on Hoda Kotb’s Making Space podcast and expressed that she felt ‘freedom’ after publicly talking about her story.

‘I think, life can get distracting, and there’s so much noise. Titles don’t scare me anymore because I claimed my own story. I told my own story. And, I felt freedom from it.’

The star’s dark locks were parted in the middle, and effortlessly flowed down straight past her shoulders.

Blanco was also seen at the star-studded event and the couple paused for snaps together as he supported Selena during the big night.

She had been nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, which went to Jean Smart for her role in Hacks.
