Israel has rejected a push led by key backer the US for a 21-day ceasefire in Lebanon, vowing to keep fighting Hezbollah militants “until victory”. Foreign Minister Israel Katz asserted that “there will be no ceasefire in the north,” after PM Netanyahu denied claims that a truce is in the cards. Speaking at the JFK airport in New York, Netanyahu said Israel will “keep striking Hezbollah until we accomplish all of our goals.” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant approved “the continued IDF offensive activity” against Hezbollah in Lebanon, according to his office. The IDF claimed it killed the commander of Hezbollah’s aerial forces Muhammad Hussein Sarour, in an airstrike in Beirut on September 26.
