Samsung is making changes to One UI 7 but does it need 4 months?
Samsung has been quite fast with its Android updates in the last few years but Android 15 could be a different story.
Samsung users have got some bad news about the company’s plans to roll out Android 15 for the current devices. The One UI 7 version based on Android 15 is not expected anytime in 2024 and you will have to wait till the Galaxy S25 series is announced early next year. The company confirmed the timeline and its reasons for this big change during the Samsung Developer Conference 2024 keynote this week.
Samsung’s Android 15 Update Delay – What The Company Said
During the keynote, Samsung said that One UI 7 is getting a delayed release because of a big overhaul in the UI that is claimed to focus on being simple, emotive and other elements that it plans to bring. Samsung has become proactive with its approach towards software and OS over the last few years. So the details coming out of the SDC 2024 keynote have been surprising. Granted, the company wants to add its own elements to the base Android version which takes time, but that surely cannot warrant a four month timeline?
After all, Google is expected to bring Android 15 to the Pixel phones around October 15, and the Android 15 AOSP is already out, so we’re eager to see what and how Samsung is taking so long to push out its Android 15 version this year.
Having said that, the beta versions should be out in the coming weeks, but brands like Vivo and iQOO don’t help Samsung’s case, as they have not only shared the details about Android 15 update but also given a clear timeline for their roll out.
Xiaomi used to take a long time to work on its own new Android updates, and Samsung seems to be falling into the same trap now. We’re hoping the changes and the delayed release timeline are worth it.
