Andrew Garfield forced to pick his favorite Spider-Man – and fans disagree with his choice

Three-time Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield was put in the hot seat on Wednesday when he was forced to choose which actor was his favorite to play Peter Parker.

For some reason, the 41-year-old LA-born Brit felt he could only choose between himself, seven-time Spider-Man star Tom Holland, and four-time Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire.

‘It’s a caveat answer, I’m afraid,’ Andrew told Vanity Fair after much thought.

‘Tobey was my guy. I was in drama school and I was watching his films when I was a young, impressionable actor. And I was, like, practicing being him. But I love, I think what Tom has done is incredible as well. I kind of love them both equally.

‘But I think because it was, like, at a formative part of my life, Tobey is like, you know, that thing of like, “That’s my Spider-Man.” That’s the Spider-Man I grew up with and, like, tried to emulate. But I really have so much admiration for Tom. I’m not going to choose, but yeah.’

In the comments of Vanity Fair’s TikTok video, many fans were frustrated that Garfield left out so many other actors who’ve voiced or played Peter Parker like Jake Johnson from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).

The bulk of the fans felt that the two-time Oscar nominee was ‘the best Spider-Man’ and they would ‘not take criticisms.’

TikTok user @AJay commented: ‘Andrew Garfield [deserves a] trilogy.’

‘My fave live action is Andrew. Tobey’s is a classic for a damn good reason and Tom is outstanding,’ TikTok user @StevenGreen536 wrote.

‘But I just love the attitude that Andrew brought to the role.’

TikTok user @DanPassant commented: ‘It was obvious it would be Tobey since you know he watched those movies a million times preparing for his role.’

‘I feel like everyone’s answer is based on nostalgia TBH,’ TikTok user @Kat wrote.

‘My favourite spiderman is Tom Holland bc he was the first spiderman I ever saw, I do have a special place in my heart for Tobey and Andrew tho.’

‘We have this amazing bond as three people who have been through something that is so unique that we really are like brothers,’ the 28-year-old Englishman gushed to THR Magazine.

The Crowded Room producer-star has been ‘a little apprehensive’ while sitting in meetings for the next Spider-Man film with producers and Marvel execs.

‘The first few meetings were about, “Why would we do this again?” And I think we found the reason why. I’m really, really happy with where we’re at in terms of the creative,’ Tom said.

‘But I’m also a little apprehensive about it. There’s a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there’s a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life.’
