This is not the welcome gift a mother expected while lying in the delivery room.
Francielly Ferreira had just given birth to her third child, a boy, in Brazilian city of Goiânia when the newborn suddenly urinated on her face as he was being held by the doctor.
Ferreira remembered she was just ‘lying down, numb and very excited’ after the birth of her second son, Daniel Neves, on August 12. When the newborn let loose, the family’s loved ones stood behind a glass window laughing at his opening act.
‘My nephews, who are children, thought it was very funny,’ Ferreira told Brazilian news outlet G1.

The celebration was short-lived as Neves was rushed to the intensive care unit.
He spent 23 days under supervision, including 10 in which he was sedated and intubated as medical staff treated him for pulmonary hypertension.
‘There was a lot of concern and there is still a lot of concern,’ Ferreira said. ‘But, thank God, today he is very well, very healthy.’

Ferreira debated for weeks following her son’s discharge whether to share the video with her followers on TikTok.
She finally relented on Sunday, when she paired the delivery room footage with ‘Funny Song,’ the track composed by British musician Thomas Hewitt-Jones.
‘It took me three days to realize that the video had gone viral,’ Ferreira said. ‘I only posted the video to use the song, so it took me a while to notice. But it was really fun to read the comments, it really is quite funny.’
One commented: ‘I’m already marking my territory, this is my mother forever.’
‘Welcome to the world of boy mothers,’ another chimed in.
