Tim Walz’s wife Gwen assigned Americans homework in a video that has social media wondering why she’s treating voters like her schoolchildren.
Gwen, like her husband and Minnesota governor Tim, is a longtime schoolteacher who tried to use that experience in the clip posted to Kamala Harris’ campaign TikTok.Â
‘I’m here with an assignment for you today. It’s due on November 5th,’ she said in the video, which has gotten over 215,000 views since being posted on Sunday morning.
‘Now, I’m gonna put my teacher glasses on because this is really serious, like a final and there’s no late work.Â
‘I need you to take yourself and three friends to the ballot box and make your voice heard. You have to vote. I’m gonna repeat that again. You and three of your friends have to make your voices heard by voting.’

Much like many students reacting to homework, the reaction on social media was less than enthusiastic.
One user on X wrote: ‘Wow.. they really think Americans are stupid. Just blows my mind how democrats think so little of the American people.’Â
Another chimed in: ‘Well the average Democrat voter matches that intellect level. Maybe it’ll work, doubt it though. They’re getting desperate.’
‘She is painful to listen to. Can’t handle that for 4 years,’ added another.
This isn’t the first time the First Lady of Minnesota has been mocked for her mannerisms on the campaign trail.
In September, she was slammed online after she delivered an animated speech against former President Donald Trump during a campaign event in Superior, Wisconsin.Â
‘Bye Bye. Bye bye Donald Trump!’ she hollered, raising her voice and drawing closer to the microphone.
‘We are turning the page! 52 days and we are turning the page!’ she cried. ’52 days and it’s bye bye Donald Trump!’
The reaction on social media was, much like many students reacting to homework, less than enthusiastic.
The Trump campaign clipped the video, sharing it on social media.
‘CONFIRMED: Gwen Walz is just as cringe as Tampon Tim,’ the account read.
The name ‘Tampon Tim’ has since been used throughout conservative circles to describe the governor picked to pad Harris’s presidential prospects. It stems from the governor’s choice to sign a 2023 law requiring that schools provide menstruation supplies in boy’s restrooms at schools in Minnesota.
The video elicited similar reactions online from Trump supporters, who described it as ‘cringe’ and a sign that Walz clearly had ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’
Others described her as ‘worse than Hillary Clinton’ or ‘Hillary 2.0.’Â
But her husband Tim only had positive things to say about his wife’s introductory remarks.Â
‘When Gwen Walz speaks, people always say why isn’t she running?’ he asked the crowd. ‘She’s an English teacher, words matter.’Â
