Samsung has launched Gauss 2, its second-generation generative AI model, designed to enhance performance across a variety of devices, from smartphones to home appliances. The model comes in three versions: Compact, Balanced, and Supreme. The Compact model is built for efficient, on-device operation, requiring less computational power, while Balanced offers improved performance with a focus on efficiency and speed.

The Supreme model, built on the Balanced framework, uses a mixture of expert techniques, which involves numerous models, each focusing on a particular type of problem. As per the tech giant, the Gauss 2 supports 9 to 14 humans and several programming languages. Additionally, it also boasts speed up to 1.4 to 3 times faster than its predecessor, depending upon its variant.

The company stated Gauss 2 has already been implemented internally and over 60 percent of Samsung’s DX division developers utilise the new model to code or translate text, create emails and summarise documents. Additionally, Artificial intelligence is also utilised in call centres to categorise and summarise consumer interactions.

This highlights the commitment from Samsung to integrate AI into its processes to boost efficiency and improve user experiences.

Having said that, Samsung is unlikely to bring Gauss 2 on the Galaxy S24 FE model but the future Samsung devices may use the model for a variety of AI-powered capabilities. These include features such as automated settings modifications, which may someday replace the usual Settings menu.

In other news, Samsung has started rolling out its One UI 6 update for more Galaxy watches. Initially, it will be available on the Galaxy Watch 6 series and will gradually extend to the Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and the Galaxy Watch FE.
