Latest reports state that India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir will rejoin the team in Australia on Tuesday, having flown out of India after having returned home because of “personal reasons”.

Gambhir had earlier informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India that he would be going home and coming back ahead of the second Test and BCCI approved the request.

A BCCI source was quoted, “Gambhir has informed us that he will be travelling back home and will join the team before the start of the second Test. He has cited personal reasons and the BCCI has accepted his request”.

But, it seems as if the head coach has now tended to his business and is raring to rejoing his team ahead of the much-anticipated second Test against Australia.

The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to be a day-nighter in Adelaide, will start on December 6.

Gambhir’s support staff which includes bowling coach, Morne Morkel, assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate and the fielding coach, T Dilip looked after the team’s training sessions with the skipper Rohit Sharma, who had also just joined the side down under.

Rohit had missed the first Test in Perth due to the birth of his second child and joined the squad ahead of the fourth day. Following India’s win, Rohit did not waste much time and was back training in the nets during the lunch break.

He was also back at the helm for India for the warm-up Test match that took place against the AUS PM’s XI side, where India cruised to a six-wicket victory.
