A look back at Jessica Alba’s cryptic final wedding anniversary post ahead of shock Cash Warren divorce

Jessica Alba officially filed for divorce from her husband Cash Warren this week after nearly 17 years of marriage – one month after news of their shock split came to light.

The Fantastic Four actress, 43, cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reasoning behind their separation, with Warren soon filing afterwards.

During the course of their marriage, the former couple welcomed three children: Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and Hayes, seven – and both have requested for joint physical and legal custody of their kids.

Eight months before it was revealed that Jessica and Cash were ‘set for divorce,’ the Hollywood star uploaded her final anniversary post to celebrate 16 years of marriage.

At the time, Alba shared an assortment of images to her main Instagram page of the pair from over the years.

She also penned a cryptic caption to accompany the snaps while reflecting on how they have gone through ‘thick and thin.’

’16 years of marriage, 20 years together and forever to go… Happy Anniversary @cashwarren,’ the mother-of-three began.

‘I’m proud of us for making it this far. There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family.’

The Honey star concluded with, ‘Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another. Cheers to us, I love you.’

One picture in the post was of the pair dressed to impress as they attended the 3rd Los Angeles Beverly Arts Icon Awards in Beverly Hills in 2023.

The pair also cozied up together in a selfie the actress snapped as they enjoyed a boat ride on the water.

Other photos in the post included Alba and Warren with their children, as well as another where they shared a sweet hug.

But speculation first arose that Jessica and Cash may have hit a rocky patch in their relationship when she was spotted on public outings without her wedding ring.

Alba also seemingly confirmed she was single in a post to celebrate New Year’s, but then reunited with Warren to celebrate their son’s birthday at Universal Studios.

But that same month, sources informed that Jessica and Cash were ‘set for divorce’ after recently separating.

The former couple first crossed paths on set of the 2004 film, Fantastic Four, and they later said ‘I do’ in 2008.

A few years before their divorce news came to light, Jessica had admitted back in 2021 that both she and Cash were more like ‘roommates.’

She shared her feelings during an interview on Katherine Schwarzenegger’s Instagram show titled Before, During And After Baby, per Page Six.

Alba had expressed, ‘It’s all rosy for two and a half years. But then after that, you become roommates. You’re just going through the motions. You have the responsibilities. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes, right?’

The star also reflected, ‘We have, like, obviously the friendship, the comfort of, like, “you’re not going anywhere,” and so sometimes you don’t treat those people the best, right?’

‘You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings. So that is something that I think is a constant one to work on.’

When it comes to working out their problems, Alba explained that they would ‘confront issues’ and also ‘communicate when [they’re] unhappy.’

Earlier this week on Friday, it was revealed that the actress officially filed for divorce from Cash with no prenup, according to legal documents obtained by DailyMail.com.

She notably filed with the help of Laura Wasser, who is known for her high-profile clients including Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Kevin Costner and Ariana Grande.

She is also planning on returning drop the surname Warren and revert to her maiden name.

In the filing, it was noted that the exact nature of their community, quasi-community assets, and separate property and obligations are ‘unknown’ and ‘will be determined.’

Her estranged spouse followed suit immediately as he filed with assistance from attorney Adam Lipsic. They both listed their date of separation as December 27.

Although there is a huge amount on money at stake, sources told TMZ that the divorce is ‘extremely amicable.’

In 2016, Forbes estimated Alba’s net worth was around $340 million due to the success The Honest Company, which she founded in 2011.

Five years later, they retracted the report and said with her ‘6% stake (including options)’ in the brand, she ‘would only be worth just under $100 million.’

‘That is far less than the $340 million Forbes estimated she was worth when we estimated her stake to be 20% and put her on our 2016 list of America’s most successful self-made women,’ the publication explained in their correction.

Like his wife, Warren has found success as an entrepreneur after launching his underwear and sock company, Pair of Thieves, valued at around $100 million.

Last month, a legal expert told DailyMail.com that the couple’s split could get ‘complicated’ as various factors come into play.

Alba’s money comes not just from her high-profile acting career which includes films such as Into The Blue, Honey and Sin City. But it also is from her success as the founder of Honest Company.

The Honest Company, Inc. is a consumer goods company based in Los Angeles and founded by Alba, Christopher Gavigan, and Brian Lee. The company is valued at roughly $640 million.

Among their assets is a $10M Beverly Hills mansion that they bought in 2017.

Also in January, the actress took to Instagram with a typed note announced the end of her marriage to Warren.

‘I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,’ began her message as she did not allow comments.

‘I’m proud of how we’ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.

‘We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family.’

Alba ended with, ‘Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time,’ as she added a white heart emoji.
