“UIDAI extends free online document upload facility till 14th June 2026; to benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders. This free service is available only on #myAadhaar portal. UIDAI has been encouraging people to keep documents updated in their Aadhaar,” UIDAI announced in a post on X.

What Is Aadhaar?

Aadhaar is a 12-digit identification number issued to Indian residents, based on biometric and demographic data. It is widely used as an official proof of identity across India.

What’s the Deadline?

You can upload identity and address documents for free on the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2026.

It is important to note that this free service is available only for online updates. If you visit a physical Aadhaar center, you will have to pay a fee. So, if your name, address, or other information is incorrect, it’s best to update it online today — for free.

What Happens After That?

After the deadline, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to upload your documents — the same fee applies for physical submissions as well.

Why Update Your Aadhaar?

UIDAI recommends updating your Aadhaar details, especially if you haven’t done so in the last 10 years. Keeping Aadhaar data current ensures smoother authentication and better service delivery.
