Abhishek Malik has impressed audiences with his performances in shows such as Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum. Now, he is back on screen in his latest role as Neel Paranjape in Jamai No. 1. In a recent interview, Malik shared his excitement about this new role and discussed how it differs from the intense characters he has played in the past.
During the interview with The Times Of India, Malik revealed that Neel was a complete contrast to the roles he portrayed in his previous shows.
“This show is very different from my previous roles. In my last show, Kumkum, I played a character with a grey shade, which was intense and challenging. However, in Jamai No. 1, Neel is the complete opposite—a positive, lovable, and grounded character. It’s refreshing to play someone so relatable, and I genuinely believe the audience will fall in love with him,” he told the daily.
Reflecting on his time on set, Malik expressed his appreciation for the positive environment among the cast and crew. He shared how he enjoys working closely with Simaran Kaur and Papia Sengupta with whom he shares most of his scenes.
“The vibe on set is so positive. Everyone is putting their heart and soul into making this show a success. We’re hopeful it will resonate with viewers and become a hit on Zee TV, delivering great TRPs,” he added.
Talking about the show’s title, Jamai No. 1, Abhishek highlighted the unique bond his character shares with his mother-in-law.
“The audience will witness Neel’s journey and what makes him deserving of the title Jamai No. 1,” he said.
“His unique bond with his mother-in-law is central to the narrative,” Malik mentioned, adding that he believes the way Neel proves her wrong in unexpected situations will keep the viewers hooked and entertained.
“The constant tashan between the saas and jamai adds a fun, engaging layer to the story, perfectly justifying the title,” he concluded.
The first season of Jamai Raja, starring Ravi Dubey and Nia Sharma, holds a special place in the hearts of many fans as it became one of the most successful and loved shows. It ran for nearly three years before wrapping up in 2017.
In this fresh chapter, Malik takes on a role that was once portrayed by Ravi Dubey as Siddharth Khurana. However, Jamai Number One introduces a different storyline that focuses more on Abhishek’s character, Neel Paranjape, with a unique twist that sets it apart from the original. Simran Kaur plays the female lead.
