Fans, spectators and netizens alike had enough of witnessing the Indian seemingly falling for the same error, time and time again, and vented out their frustrations on online media.
Another inning, another unfortunate dismissal in a familiar manner for India’s talisman batter Virat Kohli, who fell to Australia’s Josh Hazlewood for a meagre 3 runs on Day 3 of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Monday.
India were toyed with by the hosts, who put up a mammoth 445 runs in the first innings, thanks to scintillating centuries from Travis Head and Steve Smith.
Playing from behind, India were in need of a strong start to set the tone, something that the top-order batters failed to accomplish.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was nicked off by Mitchell Starc for just 4 runs, while Shubman Gill also followed him back to the pavilion soon enough after falling victim to Josh Hazlewood.
Kohli came into the crease, needing to make a stand with KL Rahul to steer India clear of danger. But, in what has become typical fashion, Kohli went chasing after a Hazlewood delivery, wide outside the off stump, to end nicking the same behind into the hands of Alex Carey, leaving India at a dismal 22-3.

Some called out Kohli for his ‘blatant arrogance’, highlighting the batter’s seeming inability to learn from his mistakes and his weaknesses, as Kohli continues to be exploited for his very blatant flaw in innings galore.
It hurts me to say this but this is blatant arrogance from Kohli. He’s adamant on not working on his weakness. Heck I don’t even think he admits this is a weakness for him. “Oh yeah the Kohli cover drive”. That’s justBS if you can’t score runs. Should be his last 2 tests.— Rudraksh Kikani (@KikaniRudraksh) December 16, 2024
#ViratKohli is adamant about not learning. First ball after Gill wicket, Staarc throws a full length at 5th stump & Kohli goes fishing at it. Hazlewood floats one in 5th stump & our man nick’s it again. Kohli is a walking wicket for past few years.. #INDvsAUS #GabbaTest— Sri Kumar (@vettysri) December 16, 2024
Others took to highlighting Steve Smith’s century in the innings earlier, when the AUS batter played his way through a bad spell to notch a century and once again rise to the occcasion for Australia.
Virat Kohli just saw Steve Smith work so hard for his century & learnt nothing.Out fishing outside off once again. Letting his fans down every single time. #INDvsAUS

Others were ruthless, calling for the Indian talisman to retire, as the frustrations continue to boil for Indian fans.
First throw Virat Kohli out of team, He is as useless as others.— GautamGJj (@GautamGjJ) December 16, 2024
A hapless India are now tasked with the mammoth task of scaling the towering total and stay in the fight, if they aim to keep their dream of qualifying for the WTC Final alive.
