NewJeans has been at the centre of attention since the beginning of this year. They drew significant attention when Min Hee Jin, ADOR’s former CEO, got into an ugly public fight with HYBE. This was followed by other significant changes at the administrative level in the HYBE subsidiary. Just last month, the five members added the final nail in the coffin by announcing their departure from ADOR. Following their unilateral decision to terminate the contract, ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking a legal ruling on the validity of their contract with https://www.news18.com/movies/newjeans-loses-advertising-deal-with-financial-brand-after-parting-ways-with-ador-aa-9155855.html.

Weeks after the lawsuit, on December 27, KST, ADOR took to Weverse to share a notice announcing that they would take legal action against the “perpetrators of malicious activities targeting NewJeans.” The action would be taken against “defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, the dissemination of false information and ill-intentioned criticism.”

The agency informed that as a result of their previous complaints, many wrongdoers are already facing legal proceedings for their criminal activities. “The Supreme Court has finalised a fine of several million won against individuals who fabricated, distributed and/or sold explicit photos by manipulating the artists’ images. Additionally, multiple fines have been imposed on individuals responsible for heinous and defamatory comments,” said ADOR in their notice.

Furthermore, NewJeans’ agency revealed that individuals who posted malicious content anonymously were identified and are under investigation as well. They have also filed complaints against those who infringed the rights of their artists, mocked “the artists’ nationality and appearance” and “have uploaded sexually objectifying or degrading posts and comments.”

“Our legal complaints extend to those who have posted false information, insults, sexual harassment, and other malicious posts and comments on both domestic and international platforms (DCInside, Ilgan Best, Naver, YouTube, etc.). Our stance remains firm, with a zero-tolerance policy regarding violations of our artists’ rights,” said ADOR while thanking NewJeans’ fans for their constant love and support. This notice shared by ADOR garnered mixed reactions from people on social media.

One user wrote, “Glad to see ADOR taking strong action. No one should face harassment or malicious attacks. ” Another pointed out, “They said this same thing at least ten times before.”

A third user said, “They didn’t do anything. They are only saying they did. So people think Ador cares about NewJeans, and they think they are a good company.

A fourth fan wrote, “You could do this when you had them, but you’re late. You can’t win them back, I fear.”

Another noted, “This is some weird game between Ador and NewJeans… a chase or hide-and-seek? Some say, ‘We’re not working together,’ others say, ‘Look, we are!’ It’s hilarious.”
