Shoaib Akhtar also joined the celebrations as he praised Mohammad Rizwan & Co for registering first series win in Australia since 2002.
Shoaib Akhtar hailed Team Pakistan after their historic ODI series win over Australia on the weekend. Pakistan stunned the Aussies as they defeated the reigning world champions 2-1 on November 10. It took the men-in-green 22 years to beat Australia in an ODI series in their backyard.
Shoaib Akhtar also joined the celebrations as he praised Mohammad Rizwan & Co on his YouTube channel.
“Outstanding win. After 22 years, we won against Australia. In 2002, I remember I was there. We had won a series in Gabba, and it took us 22 years for the players to win the series. And they did an amazing job,” the Rawalpindi Express said.
Shoaib Akhtar further pointed out that the Pakistan squad’s attitude was different during the whole back-and-forth three-match affair. He claimed that Mohammad Rizwan had a massive impact on the team’s approach. Akhtar also hailed the Pakistan bowling trio of Shaheen Afridi, Nasim Shah and Haris Rauf for their impactful spells.
“They played really well. There was an attitude change. Rizwan changed the attitude. Naseem, Haris, Shaheen. All of them played really well and at the same time they did a comprehensively good job,” the Pakistan legend concluded.
Shoaib Akhtar isn’t the only Pakistan legend celebrating the historic overseas series triumph. Retired wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal shared a congratulatory post on X.
“After 22 years Pakistan won series in Australia…very well done boys whole nation is of you. Now no one will ever say that Pakistan can’t win a series in Australia,” Akmal wrote in his post.
