Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday appealed to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to launch a probe in Punjab after it revealed the alleged corruption of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi.
Taking to social media platform X, Bajwa wrote, “After revelations of the alleged misdeeds of the previous @AamAadmiParty govt in Delhi, I urge the CAG to launch a probe in Punjab. As per the CAG report, the Delhi govt incurred a loss of Rs 2,002 crore because of alleged irregularities in formulating and implementing the excise policy in 2021-22. The CAG report also revealed that the AAP government’s spending on advertising campaigns in Delhi surged by 1,200 percent between 2018 and 2022.”

Bajwa accused the AAP government in Punjab of replicating Delhi’s excise policy after forming the government and also following the advertising policy of the AAP government in Delhi.
“Notably, the @AAPPunjab govt replicated Delhi’s liquor policy and followed the AAP govt Delhi’s advertising policy,” he said.
The CAG report on the previous Delhi government’s now-scrapped excise policy brought into light several “lapses” in the policy and said that the exchequer had a Rs 2,026 crore loss.
According to the report, some bidders were facing losses but were still given licenses by the then-AAP government.
The CAG report underlined the lapses in the implementation of the excise policy which resulted in a loss of Rs 2,026 crores to the government while stating that the AAP leaders “got kickbacks”.
